I have been practicing acupuncture since 1999 and started working from the Evergreen Clinic in 2000, where I enjoy the professional and relaxed atmosphere. I qualified in traditional Chinese acupuncture but, with time and experience, have found that I prefer the Japanese style, using fewer needles which are finer and don’t penetrate so deeply. This method achieves excellent results and is more comfortable for the patient. I also use palpation and acu-pressure in diagnosis and treatment, as well as massage techniques which, where appropriate, enhance and optimise the overall therapeutic effect.
While I am qualified to practice traditional Chinese herbal medicine I rarely use herbs as part of my treatment programme, finding that acupuncture, acu-pressure cupping and massage, with dietary and lifestyle advice when necessary, give excellent results. If I do come across a patient that needs herbal treatment, I refer them to Kevin Orbell-McSean or Nikki Darrell, the Evergreen Clinic’s medical herbalists, who are more specialised in this area.
In my practice I treat a broad range of complaints, ranging from acute to chronic, and mild to severe. The complaints I have the greatest success with are back pain, arthritis, neck and shoulder stiffness and pain, fibromyalgia, sinus problems, IBS, fatigue, depression, anxiety, painful periods, headache and migraine.
Acupuncture is a safe, effective and relatively pain-free treatment with no lasting negative side-effects. Acupuncture enhances the body’s natural healing abilities, allowing the body to return to a balanced state.
