Indian Head Massage

The technique of Indian Head Massage (IHM) has been handed down over many generations, forming an integral part of Indian family life for thousands years.
An IHM treatment is carried out on the shoulders, head, neck, face and scalp, with the receiver in a comfortable seated position (or lying on a couch if unable to sit comfortably).
There are many meridian and acupressure points on the head, face and shoulders which are stimulated by this treatment, aiding the nervous, hormonal and digestive systems. The circulation of both blood and energy is increased to the scalp and hair.

The benefits of Indian Massage are many, including:
Muscular and skeletal problems of the neck and shoulders.
Alleviating stress, anxiety and mental tension.
Helping to address scalp and hair problems.
Relieving  eyestrain, headaches, sinusitis and congestion.
Helping improve low energy levels, tiredness and insomnia.
Clearing the mind, revitalising mental capacity, improving alertness and concentration.
Balancing the chakras, or subtle energy centres.

After an initial consultation to determine the needs of the individual, pure vegetable oils and essential oils are chosen, and freshly blended as to use as the massage oil. Each session lasts one hour, including consultation. The treatment is ideal for helping one to feel calm and energised.

Eileen Doody has been practicing Indian Head Massage since 1999. She is also qualified to practice CranioSacral therapy, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Reiki.
